Esmond is an AI tool that evaluates your own paper. You upload it as a PDF and say what it is. In minutes you get it back with comments in the margin, a list of what to tackle first and the questions an advisor or committee might ask.
A PDF of a paper you wrote yourself: a short paper, a term paper, a capstone, a thesis or a dissertation. You also give your country, your level (bachelor's, master's or PhD), your broad field and the type of paper. Esmond doesn't ask for your school's rules and doesn't look them up.
Your paper doesn't have to be in English. The review is always in English, and passages quoted from your text stay in their original language.
If your paper names research participants, patients or other people, replace those details before you upload it, for example "respondent 3" instead of a name. If they stay in, you confirm that you may share them.
Most reviews are ready in minutes; a long thesis or dissertation takes a little longer. The sample report shows each part on a fictional thesis.
Esmond reads your whole paper with your field in mind and looks at four things: whether your reasoning holds, whether your chapters work together, whether the way you use your references backs up what you claim and whether your paper answers the question it asks.
It doesn't know your course, your rubric or what your advisor prefers. It also doesn't open the publications you cite: it looks at how you use them in your paper.
No one reads your paper to produce your review. Esmond works with language models from outside providers. They process your paper under contracts that exclude training, so it is not used to train AI, by us or by them. The providers keep input and output temporarily for security and abuse detection, under their own retention periods.
An authorized person bound by confidentiality opens a document or report only in three cases: you ask us to through support, there is a technical or security incident, or a limited random sample of reviews is checked for quality. To improve our method, we also analyze some reviews within those 90 days, in a version without your name and contact details. You can object by email. The Privacy Notice has the full text.
Your source file is deleted from our servers as soon as your report is ready; if the report fails, within 90 days at most. The report contains your full paper and stays available for 90 days after your upload, so you can download it again. After that it is deleted automatically.
The feedback comes from AI, so it can be incomplete or wrong. Weigh each comment and decide what to change. It is not an official assessment: your instructor, advisor or committee decides how your work is judged.
Esmond isn't offered in every country. If it isn't available where you are, the site says so and won't start a review.
